I began with bullet journal 4 years ago and it wasn't easy, it was difficult to organize my life for the first time. And here I am 4 years later sharing something I wish I known before I started.

What is a bullet journal?

In a nutshell, it’s this awesome note-taking/list-making/groundbreaking technique that is completely customizable and flexible to your needs. A bullet journal is a method created by Ryder Carroll, a New York-based digital product designer.

DOES BULLET JOURNAL HELP?

Does it help to become more organized, productive, happier?...

One of the best things about a bullet journal is that you have complete control over what goes into it. You get to choose how your monthly spread will look, you can express yourself with your creativity. It truly helps you get organized because the first step of success is WRITING TASK DOWN. It helps you reflect over time, see the growth, it is truly a big diary where everything is possible. Your bullet journal can become much more than your daily planner.

HOW TO START?

  1. NOTEBOOK

Some people get so overwhelmed with a certain brand of the notebook, and that is the reason they never start. Just gram the cheapest notebook with hardcovers and begin.

2. FIND YOUR KEY SYMBOLS

Find some easy symbols and write them at the beginning of your journal just to memorize and organize your tasks more. These symbols are called signifiers. That can be only one symbol it is really up to you.

3. FUTURE LOG

Here you will spread all of your monthly and write all the big events and goals. And at the end of the year, all of that will be a big memory.

4. MONTHLY LOG

It is truly up to you, do you want to keep it simple and just draw random black boxes and write your events, or you can let your creativity and paint a whole new world. This is in-depth, more organize spread to see exactly where you need to be and what to do this month.  Your monthlies serve as a wide-view lens as you plan your life.

5. WEEKLY LOG

Here, you can be more specific and write down to-dos, meetings, and reminders. Also, be creative.

6. COLLECTIONS

Once you’ve set up your monthly and daily spreads, then it’s time to start exploring the wonderful world of collections.

Here is where all of your creativity comes. If you have a list of podcasts, books, movies, tv shows make that.

EXTRA TIPS

a) Let go of perfection

Your journal is your expression and if you feel overwhelmed just by thinking every page needs to be perfect, like Amanda's Rach Lee you need to take a step back.  It may take a bit of trial-and-error before you can find a system that works for you and help you create the life you want.

b) Sketch everything with pencil

As much as you don't want to make mistakes. Always sketch your ideas it's better to know how it would actually look at the end.

c) Even if it is hard keep going

I know it is hard at the beginning to keep the consistent, but be strong and let go of every comparison and be you create and enjoy. If you skip a day, do not beat yourself, forgive yourself and try again.

d) Don't compare

You can find dozens of ideas on Pinterest and be overwhelmed and stressed and copy all of that. But be more open this is your journey, your story, and your memories. Express yourself and enjoy it.
